Job description

The project ‘Prevention of sexualised and gender-based violence (SGBV)’ is implemented by GIZ Rwanda. The project works in close collaboration with its political and main implementation partner, the Ministry for Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) as well as selected civil society organisations. It aims at improving the range of prevention measures offered by governmental and non-governmental actors, which should be aligned with recognised quality standards and improved for persons affected by SGBV. This will be achieved by (1) strengthening the institutional and technical capacities for SGBV prevention within MIGEPROF, (2) improving the quality of medical, psychosocial and legal service provision for persons affected by SGBV and (3) improving the dissemination of knowledge about SGBV throughout the country. Furthermore, the project also provides the wider portfolio of GIZ Rwanda and Burundi with gender expertise through the Gender Focal person.

Your tasks

During your internship you will support the following tasks:

  • Support services for individual team members in strategic consulting on the coordination of prevention and response mechanisms to SGBV
  • Support in the organization of workshops with state and non-state partners as well as development partners the project is cooperating with
  • Support in the planning and implementation of outreach activities, for example during the 16 days of Activism against Violence Against Women (November/December 2023)
  • Support to the Gender Focal Person on country level in the organisation of the gender working group as well as sensitizing staff on the Feminist Foreign/ Development Policy and relevant gender topics as requested
  • Support Context Monitoring: Research topics relevant to the implementation of the project
  • Support update of software-based Operational Plan and planning for next project phase, including during the appraisal mission for the project
  • Support in the varied day-to-day project management business including drafting of German language monitoring reports
  • Support to the internal and external communication of the project

Your profile

  • You are studying in the third semester or higher political, legal or social sciences, organizational development, peace and conflict studies, international relations or a comparable study
  • First practical experience in the field of international cooperation with institutional and specialist knowledge in the field of gender-based violence or gender-sensitive approaches and/or in the field of organisational development
  • Good knowledge of German Feminist Foreign/Development Policy
  • Strong IT skills, especially in relevant Microsoft applications (Office, MS Teams, Sharepoint, etc.)
  • Business fluency in German, English. (Must have strong German drafting skills). Knowledge of French would be an asset
  • Ability and willingness to work independently, intercultural competence and strong communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a multicultural team

Notes

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.064,- (gross). Depending on the country of assignment a monthly expatriation allowance (gross), predetermined by GIZ will be paid on top.
