The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.

The ICT Officer (Quality Assurance) reports to the ICT Specialist (Quality Assurance) at the P-3 level in the Solutions Center and Support Section of ICTD.

 

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the ICT Specialist, the ICT Officer will assist in the preparation and execution of Quality Assurance plans to ensure that products and services align with UNICEF business objectives and performance measures. The ICT Officer will work with consultants and perform quality assurance of application and interfaces under test prior to release; work with the business units to develop, sign-off and execute test scenarios; test all applications and interfaces end-to-end to determine the impact on related system.

 

Key responsibilities:

Carry out the assigned Quality Assurance testing activities for new and existing IT enabled projects in the ICTD project portfolio, as well as existing applications and infrastructure. This includes UNICEF information systems, interfaces, and platform (hosted as cloud solutions or on-premises solutions).

Set up and maintain the Quality Management framework and activities for projects in the ICTD project portfolio. Such set up includes establishing and reviewing the objectives and requirements for quality of projects, business processes, and applications; establishing preventive and quality management methodology for IT solutions; identifying business and test scenarios; and setting up the appropriate project quality management software.

Develop test automation frameworks for new and existing applications that are built on different technology stacks (SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, SharePoint, .Net, Angular JS etc.)

Participate in the development and documentation of test scripts as needed. Safe keep the scripts produced, for future reference and tests. Maintain Quality Management data, business requirements, scripts, test scenarios, results and issues that are stored in Quality Management Application such as Application Lifecycle Management systems.

Provide training and support to ICTD staff and business users on the agreed Quality Management methodology and tools for IT solutions, especially in the area of Application Lifecycle Management.

Perform any other relevant duties as requested by the supervisor.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Academic Degrees:
• A first university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics of related field is required.
• Training in related disciplines, interface, and applications development (for example, Business Analyst) is an asset.

Required Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in applications quality assurance or software testing, including hands on experience in test automation is required.

Required Skills:
• Strong analytical and interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to details
• Ability to foster excellent work relationships and work in a team environment
• Ability to multitask, prioritize multiple projects and work activities, able to work under pressure
• Ability to stay abreast of new technologies in the area of Quality Assurance, testing, and test automation

Desirable:
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, continuous delivery is highly desirable.
• Experience with testing and test automation of large ERP systems, such as SAP is highly desirable.
• Experience with systems preventive and corrective quality assurance actions is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and experience with application security testing is an asset.
• Knowledge of programming languages is an asset.

Language Requirements:
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
